Smoke and petrol nuances add breadth to the aromas of rosemary oil, pear and soil tones. There is impressive volume to the dense and seductively textured medium weight flavors thanks to the abundant amount of dry extract that imparts a sappy quality to the lingering, powerful and balanced finale. This is noticeably less refined, indeed it's mildly rustic, but offers excellent quality for its level. Recommended.
 
To remind any reader who may have missed it last year, big changes have occurred at the domaine formerly called Bernard Moreau, as brothers Alex and Benoît have split the vineyards and now have separate operations (see the reviews for Benoît below). Importantly in this context, while La Cardeuse will remain a monopole for the Moreau family, it was split between the brothers and as of 2021 forward, there are two versions of it. And while it's a nuance, Moreau emphasized that the new domaine name will be Alex Moreau rather than Alexandre. Another important change is that up through and including the 2022 vintage, the domaine exploited 10.5 ha, but it is losing a long-term lease so as of the 2023 vintage, the vines under its control will total 5.8 ha. He further noted that "2022 is my 24th vintage and thus I am starting to have a certain amount of perspective. But even 24 years-worth doesn't always prepare you for the surprises that come with making wine in Burgundy. What I mean is that 2022 was really hot and really dry yet the wines, stylistically speaking, do not seem to be a product of those growing conditions. They're wonderfully refresh and refreshing. To be sure, they're ripe but quite classic in style." As was the case in 2021, Moreau said that there is no Chevalier-Montrachet or En Remilly in 2022 though he has added two other grand crus. I would add that 2022 is a particularly good vintage for the domaine and these are wines to seek out.
