The 2016 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets was heavily frosted, but the wine has turned out well in bottle, unfurling with notions of lime, Anjou pear, white flowers and honeycomb. On the palate, it's full-bodied, satiny and textural, with tangy acids, heightened concentration and a long, distinctly saline finish. The wine's vivacity leads me to think that it will develop very nicely in the cellar.

Lamy-Caillat was established in 2011 by Sébastien Caillat and Florence Lamy who both grew up in Burgundy. They also manage Domaine René Lamy-Pillot, Forence's family estate.  Les Champs Gian, Les Caillerets and La Romanée are the premier cru climat with a village wine from the Pot Bois climat (of which many consider to be of premier cru quality). The entire portfolio is designed to be age-worthy with long elevage periods. The wines are bottled directly from barrel with no filtration. Production totals approximately 7150 bottles each year.
